Post-Covid

When a patient comes to me with persistent symptoms following COVID-19, my first questions are: What has changed since the illness? Which symptoms have remained or appeared since then – and why has the body not yet returned to its previous balance?

Post-COVID can manifest very differently from one person to another. Some patients primarily experience pronounced fatigue and exhaustion, while others suffer from reduced physical capacity, shortness of breath, concentration or memory problems, sleep disturbances, muscle complaints or a combination of different symptoms. A significant worsening of symptoms following physical or mental exertion can also occur.

From my personal therapeutic perspective, I regard Post-COVID as a varying degree of weakening of the organism and the immune system.

Based on my experience, I have developed a clear therapeutic approach aimed at providing targeted support to the body in cases of Post-COVID.

The treatment is adapted to the patient’s individual situation and condition.

Difference between Long COVID and Post-COVID

The terms are not used entirely consistently everywhere. According to the time-based classification commonly used in Germany, Long COVID refers to symptoms that persist, recur or newly develop more than four weeks after the acute phase of the illness.

A Post-COVID condition or Post-COVID syndrome refers to symptoms that are still present or newly develop at least twelve weeks after the infection and cannot be explained by another diagnosis. Long COVID is the broader term and includes Post-COVID.

Important information regarding my work as a naturopath

An acute case of COVID-19 or an existing SARS-CoV-2 infection is subject to the provisions of the German Infection Protection Act (Infektionsschutzgesetz). Section 24 of the Act generally restricts the diagnosis or treatment of the communicable diseases and infections covered by it to physicians.

My naturopathic work therefore does not include the treatment of acute COVID-19, but focuses on persistent symptoms following a previous infection, within the legal limits applicable to naturopaths in Germany.

In the case of severe, newly occurring or worsening symptoms, medical evaluation by a physician is important.
